Short description:

The installation consisted of a big handmade map designed on the ground in front of the old port and a screening of live actions realized, in the previous days, in the city of Elefsina. The performance installation Limits of the archaeological Territory presents the connection between archaeological and industrial territory.

The city of Elefsina, was considered a sacred region in ancient times, a place where sacramental rituals took place to honour Demetra, the goddess of agriculture, horticulture, grain and harvest. That area, now degraded by the industrial surrounding of the city, is full of ancient relics and ruins, buried under the earth. The main question that emerged through the actions and the installation was the connection between the new city, the ancient ruins and the industrial district, and the way it affects social life, nature and cultural heritage.

Presented:

As part of the parallel events of Aeschylus’ Festival 2012, in the old port of Elefsina, 8/9/2012, Greece
